Unable to follow the herd, this pinto foal was left hog-tied in the desert and picked up later on horse-back. He must have been only a few hours old, as his umbilical cord was still attached to his belly and wet.

After two weeks in FWS’ holding pens, he ended up in emergency care due to severe dehydration.
